Student Checkout Process

Reporting an Absence

Hollister High School staff encourages and values learning time. Checkouts should be limited to medical appointments or family emergencies. Parents or guardians must notify the Attendance Office of an absence with as much notice as possible. To report an absence, call (831) 637-5831, ext. 105, or email attendance@sbhsd.k12.ca.us from an email address that matches your student's record. 

When reporting an absence, please include: 

  • Student's first and last names
  • Student's ID number
  • Date of the absence
  • Reason for the absence

Checkout Procedure

After communication from a parent or guardian, attendance clerks will notify staff members of the designated time when a student will leave class. Students must check out with a Campus Supervisor as they depart campus at the designated time. They do not need to go to the main office. Any misrepresentation by the student will result in an Attendance Contract and a possible meeting with administration. 

Checkout Information

When checking out a student, please be prepared to provide the following information: 

  • Student's full name
  • Student's ID number
  • Time the student needs to check out
  • A phone number where a parent or guardian can be reached (if leaving a message on the phone system)
