Security & Safety

The Security & Safety Office at Hollister High School is dedicated to maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for all students, staff, and visitors. Overseeing safety across our 80+ acre campus, the office coordinates all aspects of school security, including emergency preparedness, campus supervision, access control, and crisis response. Our team of Campus Supervisors works closely with administration, School Resource Officers (SROs), and local agencies to proactively address safety concerns and ensure the well-being of our school community. We are committed to fostering a culture of vigilance, respect, and shared responsibility.

Safety and security on our campus
Our team uses a number of tools and tactics to ensure safety on our campus, including the following:
Visitor Management
Parents and guests visiting Hollister High School are managed with the Verkada Guest system. Visitors are checked in and receive badges to provide staff with full visibility over who is in the building at all times. The touchless check-in system and automatic arrival notices help provide a smooth and seamless experience so that parents can be confident that your child’s campus is welcoming and protected every day.
SmartPass
SmartPass is a digital student-movement system that makes school life safer and simpler. SmartPass replaces paper passes with real-time hall passes to create digital student IDs, automating processes like tardies, early dismissals, counseling sessions and nurse visits. The SmartPass system is fully compliant with FERPA, COPPA, SOPPA and other data privacy laws, ensuring that your student's data is secure.
Verkada Vape Detection
Verkada’s vape detection system uses air‐quality sensors to spot vape aerosols instantly and send real-time alerts to school staff. That means a bathroom, hallway, or common area won’t go unchecked. Dashboards and logs show when and where vaping happens, so staff can respond quickly and see patterns over time. This system helps deter vaping, cuts down on secondhand exposure, and builds a safer, healthier learning environment for every student.
